How do I change the componets of a f20 type fixture to a more modern one?

I have a old f20 fixture using one ballast per blub. the fixture has 4 blubs. I want to reuse the fixture but change the parts to use the newer more efficient blubs. CanI do this, what parts can you recommend. How do I change the componets of a f20 type fixture to a more modern one?

you need to get a electron ballast and electron bulbsHow do I change the componets of a f20 type fixture to a more modern one?
It's not likely going to work, and would take to much time, money and effort to do so.

Best bet and in the long run, the cheapest, is to just remove the old fixture and but a new one, to replace it.

That way, you get get a much newer and better looking and performing unit. How do I change the componets of a f20 type fixture to a more modern one?
It could be done but you'll need to find a really good electrician to gut the old fixture of its electronics and put in new components. It will cost more than replacing the whole fixture but if keeping the appearance the same is important to you, go for it.How do I change the componets of a f20 type fixture to a more modern one?
Yep, you can do it.

Any hardware, or building supply store will carry the parts.

You need:

new ballast

wiring, if it doesnt come with the ballast

flourescent bulb sockets (ends) either one pin or two, depending on which kind of bulb you wan to use

new bulbs (I recommend the 'daylight' bulbs, they cost a bit more, but provide a light that is closer to sunshine)

Don't forget to turn off the electric to the light, before working on it...if you dont have a meter, you should get one. Ive seen a lot of homes that run the power to the light first, and then to the switch...so, even with the switch off, you could have a 'hot' wire up there.

I know my local Tru-Valu store carries all of these parts in bins...and you can also pick them up at Lowe's.

Have fun!
